Why an Executive MBA?

New products, new markets, offshore resourcing, mergers, new technologies, and limited resources — all create uncertainty and opportunity. An Executive MBA positions you to recognize and take advantage of the opportunities and mitigate the uncertainties. A Master of Business Administration provides you with a broad view of the functional areas of business, while an Executive MBA also enhances your skills as a decision maker, critical thinker, and leader.

Why a Lerner EMBA from the University of Delaware?

The University of Delaware offers the experienced businessperson a special opportunity: an exclusive, accelerated MBA program focused on developing cutting-edge business skills and knowledge via a schedule and format that fit comfortably around growing career responsibilities. Our program is tailored to your experience level and your schedule.

Most of our classes are taught by full-time Lerner faculty, who are experienced in teaching executives and are true leaders in their fields. Our faculty members conduct research in a wide variety of industries and organizations in order to form a comprehensive view of their subject matter. Some courses are taught by qualified industry adjuncts, who can provide a unique perspective on today’s business environment.

Expand Your Network

In addition to the benefits you’ll gain from our curriculum, the Lerner EMBA provides you with an opportunity to learn from your exceptional classmates. The cohort structure, in which a group of students proceeds through the program together, encourages intense interaction, lively discussion, and breakthrough learning.

EMBA students are all experienced business people with the potential to become top managers and business leaders. Class members are carefully selected to represent a diversity of functional responsibilities and experience. Interaction among such a strategically chosen, dynamic group of individuals is a key benefit of our EMBA program. The relationships you’ll forge throughout the 19-month experience will extend into the professional arena. Our alumni directory and Web site will facilitate a continuing dialog between you and your successful colleagues.

You Can Do It!

The structure of our program allows for completion of your degree in a timely manner while recognizing that you have ongoing professional and family commitments. After the five-day residency in Lewes, Delaware, you will embark on five semesters of coursework. Generally, each semester meets for nine weeks (three weekends of class followed by a weekend off) over a three-month period. There are breaks of two to three weeks between semesters. A three-month summer break allows you to catch up with work and family and return refreshed for the last two semesters. The final semester includes the 10-day international residency.

Classes during our five nine-week semesters are held at Arsht Hall on our Wilmington campus, located on Pennsylvania Avenue (directions). This location is convenient for most students coming from Wilmington, Philadelphia, Media, and Newark, and provides a unique setting — a historic, academic environment with conference-center quality. Up-to-date technological capabilities are available including laptop hookups and satellite connections for video conferencing. Snacks and meals, including dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday, are served each week of the program, and parking is free.

The University acknowledges that participating in the Executive MBA program is a demanding and time-intensive endeavor that requires understanding and support from your family. During your tenure, we’ll host a number of special events and social activities that include family members to help familiarize them with the program, the faculty, and your fellow students and their families.
