Job Description
Renaissance School Services is a charter school operator in Delaware, where we manage the East Side Charter School. RSS's senior team has been involved with charter schools nationwide for more than ten years, having built, developed and managed charter schools from Florida to New York. RSS also conducts commissioned and syndicated research in education. RSS's senior management team is on the most experienced charter management teams in the country and is considered an authority on failing school turnaround. RSS has just been engaged by the school's board to manage its turnaround.
RSS has an internship opening at its Wilmington charter school, East Side Charter School, for an administrative position working on and coordinating a variety of projects from helping coordinate the school's after-school and summer programs to assisting in the preparation of the school's charter renewal application to data analysis of academic performance to assistance in analyzing specific programmatic functions. The ability to multi-task is a must. The position is for 20 hours a week, ideally five afternoons per week. This position will report to the school's Operations Specialist, who is the senior administrative officer of the school.
East Side Charter School serves a Pre-K to 8th grade population. The school has approximately 400 students. Eighty-eight percent of the population is low income and the school is 96% African-American. The school is currently low performing, but RSS is making a number of changes and introducing new programs designed to alter the school's performance profile.
This position is ideal for an individual with interests in general management,operations, finance and analysis. In particular, individuals interested in education, public administration, or mission driven activities will find this a particularly rewarding endeavor. We are most interested in students in the MBA or MPA programs, but will consider juniors and seniors from the College of Business and Economics.
