It is a pleasure to introduce myself as the Dean of the Lerner College. The Lerner College students, alumni, and faculty form an impressive community. I look forward to becoming a part of it and meeting you.
What drew me to the Lerner College is the chance to make a difference in a business school that is committed to taking it to the next level. The University of Delaware has set itself on the Path to Prominence, with ambitious targets for expanding its reach and impact. At the Lerner College, this calls for developing recognized excellence in professional education, graduate programs, and research. To achieve this, we will take risks and push boundaries.
Although I was raised in Boston and lived in Philadelphia as a student, I have spent half of my 20-year faculty career in London, with extended assignments in Dubai and Hong Kong. The globally connected economy creates great opportunities for those capable of navigating its complexity. Preparing leaders with a global perspective, deep technical skills, and high ethical standards is an exciting challenge for the Lerner College faculty and staff.
My predecessor, Bobby Gempesaw, set a high standard for leadership and outreach. Bobby told me that the Lerner College is blessed with supportive and engaged graduates and partners. We all have a stake in raising the Lerner College profile. I look forward to your input and to updating you on accomplishments at the Lerner College.
